Helping Businesswomen Achieve their Goals

“There is certainly a lot of time and energy involved, but the reward is great!” says Frost, a student in the Sawyer Business School.  “Our goal is to establish Women In Business as an important and relevant resource for all women.  We provide networking opportunities both on campus and in the community.”

Reaching Out

More than 230 students, faculty, staff, alumnae, local business professionals, and community residents are involved in Women in Business.

The organization conducts about 10 events each semester and keeps members informed about organizations such as Women for Women International, which helps women from war-torn regions rise from poverty and rebuild their lives.  Women for Women International provides emotional support, job skills training, leadership education, and access to business markets.

Frost is a commuter student mentor in the Off-Campus Housing Office, helping students find a roommate, a comfortable place to live, and a sense of belonging.  And as a Sawyer Ambassador, she furthers student, faculty, and staff connections within Suffolk University and the Beacon Hill community.  She also is a member of the Commuter Student Association, which keeps students informed of everything that the community-at-large has to offer.

“The faculty and staff at Suffolk are very welcoming and supportive of their students,” says Frost, who as a Griffin Scholar is in the flagship honors program of the Sawyer Business School.  “They are always encouraging us to get involved and participate in various clubs or activities.  I’ve really seized all the opportunities present at Suffolk and in the city of Boston.”

Inspiring Leadership

"Julia Frost is an extraordinary young woman,” says William J. O’Neill, Dean of Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School.  “Her leadership skills and love for Suffolk University are an inspiration to us all."

Frost, who was born in Germany and raised in Shirley, Massachusetts, now lives in Boston.
“I love Boston; it’s so beautiful, historic, quaint, and close to everything,” she says.  “I couldn’t be happier and more satisfied with my school and its location.”

She looks forward to exploring the non-profit sector and the social entrepreneurship market.  “I want to be open to different opportunities,” she says, “as long as it involves helping people and creating change in the world.”
