Mohamed is an active member of the International Alumni Board as well as the Country Ambassador Program at Suffolk. He is always willing to make time to assist and advise international students, lending his wisdom to any queries or problems that should arise. Mohamed draws upon his own experiences and the challenges he faced as international student at Suffolk. Mohamed notes the importance of stressing to current and potential international students the great “aspect of diversity that characterizes Suffolk as an institution”. He knows “full well how important it is for an international student not to feel out of place,” when studying abroad.
Furthermore, Mohamed reaches out to these prospective Moroccan students through email and personal phone calls to explain to them how he made the decision to ultimately choose Suffolk. He expounds on his own experiences as a student at Suffolk, those that he has found to be rewarding and memorable. Through sharing his feelings about the university, Mohamed feel that he can make a genuine difference. He believes that a special connection is formed between himself and these prospective Moroccan students, one that, he believes, is enhanced in part due to their shared home country.
Mohamed co-founded and now manages an Arabic/English newspaper in Boston, has started a freight forwarding company, opened a travel agency and meanwhile finds the time to be a full time real estate broker.
Amongst his many endeavors, Mohamed says that his “greatest achievement is being the co-founder of a non-profit organization that caters to the Moroccan community living in and around Boston. Our organization was created to get Moroccans more assimilated and integrated in American society by providing English literacy”. While continuing to branch out into many corners of the business world, Mohamed Brahimi never loses touch with his Moroccan heritage.
