Examines the impact of crime on local neighborhoods and community institutions. The role of the community in the criminal justice system and processes of social control are also examined. Topics covered include: local measurement of crime statistics; community policing; prevention and early intervention strategies; community policing; prevention and early intervention strategies; community corrections and intermediate sanctions.
