Last August, the US Customs and Immigration Service issued a ruling that International Students must take at least one class on campus during their last semester. In the past, an International Student with just one class to take during their last semester would have been permitted to take that class online. That is no longer allowed. While a student with just one class to complete during the Summer may still do that class online, a student who is completing their program during the Fall or Spring semester by taking just one course must do so on campus. While this new regulation does not completely ban International Students from taking online courses during their last semester, any online course they take during that period must be accompanied by at least one on campus.
This regulation began affecting Suffolk’s International Students at the start of the Spring 2009 semester. Please contact us if you need guidance regarding how to comply with this new rule.
