There are many opportunities for students to earn scholarships for study abroad from both our overseas partners as well as national scholarship programs. Deadlines vary and students must apply directly for these scholarships. Opportunities include:
The National Security Education Program funds the David L. Boren scholarship for undergraduate students. NSEP was created in 1991 to provide scholarships for American undergraduate students who aspire to study in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Students must be engaging in a study abroad experience in a country outside of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.
The national application deadline is early February.
The Gilman Scholarship Program seeks to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad and the countries and regions where they go. Specifically, the Gilman Program offers scholarships for students who have been traditionally underrepresented in education abroad.
