SOMERVILLE, Mass.-- Junior Pierre-Yues N’Goran’s (Abibjan, Ivory Coast) goal with just under 15 minutes remaining lifted Suffolk to a 3-2 non-league college men’s soccer victory over UMass Boston Tuesday afternoon at Dillboy Stadium.

N’Goran converted a pass from fellow junior Ben Lotterer (Lima, Peru) and notched his first tally of the season on a breakaway from the host Rams (2-0), who had jumped out to a 2-0 advantage just 9:03 into the contest on a pair of Lotterer tallies. Freshman Alex Cavallero (Lenox, Mass.) sliced the visiting Beacons’ (2-1) deficit in half just 51 seconds later by converting a rebound off an original shot by senior Maynor Sanchez (Boston, Mass.), who evened matters for UMass Boston in the 33rd minute to forge a 2-2 tie at the break, setting up N’Goran’s late heroics.

Sophomores Jorge Marin (Cartago, Colombia) and Frank Serret (Boxford, Mass.) each notched assists as well in the win for Suffolk, while freshman Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) collected his second victory in goal for the Rams with a five-save effort, including three-point blank stops in the final 10 minutes alone. Junior Paul Maniscalco (Hanover, Mass.) made a pair of saves in the setback for UMass Boston as the Beacons outshot Suffolk by a 14-7 margin for the match.

Suffolk hosts Norwich in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest on Saturday evening at Dillboy Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while UMass Boston hosts Eastern Nazarene in a non-league match on Thursday afternoon in Boston at 3:30 p.m.
