A large contingent of Suffolk Madrid students rode north to the Pyrenees at the end of January, eager to snowboard and ski in Andorra, a tiny enclave nestled between France and Spain. Many students were urged on by the excitement of a bucket list and skiing for the first time: some had rarely dealt with snow before! Friday was a skier’s delight, with warm sunshine that caused many on the mountain to shed unneeded thermal clothing. By Saturday morning, however, the mountain had transformed and a thick layer of snow covered the ground. Sunday was a picture-perfect day - a gift. Beginners and experts alike found the Pyrenees spectacular, and the powdery snow among the pines is an image that will remain on their retinas for a long time to come.
