Suffolk offers a variety of academic resources and services to guide students so they can optimize their learning experience. In particular, there are several academic support centers located on campus that offer specialized tutoring and other unique programs. All of the listed services are free for members of the Suffolk community. Here is a quick guide with links to each support center’s home page.

Ballotti Learning Center- The BLC offers programs and services designed for students who want to: boost their GPA, utilize time more effectively, better understand course content, and strengthen study strategies and skills. Come here if you are looking for the following:

Math/Computer Science Support Center: The MSC, run by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, offers a variety of types of assistance during Day and Evening hours in fall, spring and summer semesters. The following is a brief outline of the services we offer. Detailed schedules are published at the start of each semester and are available from the MSC.

Second-language Services: SLS offers academic support to students whose primary language is not English. We have a staff of professional tutors who have extensive experience helping English language learners meet their educational goals at the undergraduate and graduate level. Services include:

  • Non-credit, intensive English instruction
  • A credit bearing, freshman year program
  • Developmental writing classes and labs in support of ENG 101
  • Individual and small group tutoring led by Mastered degreed professionals
  • Materials for individual study and test preparation

Writing Center: The WC offers one-on-one tutoring for students who want to strengthen their writing skills. Come here if you are looking for help with the following:
