Name: Christopher
Hometown: Chelsea, MA
Program: Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, Master of Public Administration
Christopher is a full-time graduate student enrolled in the joint Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling / Master of Public Administration program. He graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Information Systems & Statistical Analysis. After graduation, he worked with non-profits in the mental health field. Based on his experience, he found that a Suffolk graduate degree would be the best way to advance his career.
According to Christopher, having classmates and professors who are also practicing professionals in the field is a key asset to Suffolk:
Having worked both directly with patients and in management, I am able to engage in real-world discussions during class. My professors are leading practitioners in their respective fields and are well-acquainted with the current trends and practices.
He notes that the joint program will allow him to grow as a leader in the mental health field. The pairing of Counseling and Management will provide him with the knowledge and experience to serve his patients and his fellow counselors through professional service and leadership.
Outside of Suffolk, Christopher serves on his local Board of Health and volunteers as a computer timing station team leader with Boston’s annual Head of the Charles Regatta. He also travels extensively.
