The first thing I want to say about Suffolk University regards the friendliness I’ve found here. It’s something that just can’t be ignored. Whether it is in the elevator or on the street, I meet people from all parts of Suffolk, students and faculty alike. People I know, and people I’ve never met make me feel like I am part of the community. I have felt welcome here from day one.
When I started at Suffolk, I was expecting an environment where I would be surrounded by people who wanted to learn, and so far, that is exactly what I’ve found. As a philosophy student I find that my major classes pose the most interesting challenges. Everything from Philosophy of Nature, to Philosophy of Art, and the thesis work I am now completing throughout my senior year, has taught me something new, and will continue to do so, as I apply what I’ve learned in the classroom in the real world.
My classmates are very serious and committed to getting the most out of every lecture and discussion. More often than not, we spend time after class discussing the day’s topics. It seems that each of us has our own passion, whether it is within our major, or something we love and care about, everyone relates their personal experiences to the classroom.
In addition to academics, I have been involved with Suffolk Free Radio as well as Residence Life. Being involved with the radio station as a freshman and sophomore gave me a chance to meet people I wouldn’t have met anywhere else. Being an RA has given me the ability to share my experiences with first year students, and giving back to the community has shown me how much I have truly learned.
My favorite things about Suffolk:
