Suffolk Student Ambassador Photo: Matt T.I like Suffolk’s location on Beacon Hill because it is so close to some of the most vital parts of Boston, including The Boston Common, Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market, Downtown Crossing, The Theatre District, and The North End. When I first came here I expected to have a normal college experience surrounded by other college students all the time. What I found was that every time I walked out my front door I stepped right into the “real world” right alongside businessmen, lawyers, tourists, students, legislators, and people from all walks of life. On top of assimilating into such a diverse environment during the day I’ve found that the nightlife around Suffolk can offer just as many different opportunities when it comes to enjoying yourself or trying something different.

I have found that many of the students here take their work seriously, and you’ll regularly find people studying wherever/whenever they find a spot to do so. But just because we take our work seriously does not mean that we don’t still make time for some of the great social events that can really shape a student’s college career.

When I compare notes with my friends who attend other schools, it always seems that I have smaller classes than they do. I’ve now been in nearly every level of course Suffolk has to offer, from the introductory classes right up through the most demanding senior level classes, and most of my classes have a max of only 25 to 30 students. In fact one of my classes had only 9 students in it. This is a stark contrast to larger schools with courses that might have as many as two hundred students or more in a regular class. My courses are interesting and stimulating both academically and socially. The academics are challenging, but they’re not being overwhelming, and I think that’s the best atmosphere for learning.

I took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad at the Suffolk University Madrid Campus, and it was one of the best things I‘ve ever done. The culture, diversity, and overall atmosphere contributed to a great experience that I’ll never forget.  I would recommend it to anyone, regardless of your intended major, if you’re really looking for that college experience that will change your outlook on life.

The location, the feel and the size of Suffolk add up to just the right thing for me. Finding the right fit in your college search is one of the hardest things to do, but it will have a huge impact on your college experience. In the end it all comes down to the comfort level you have with your surroundings. In the end, I like knowing that Suffolk was and still is the best place for me.

My favorite things about Suffolk:
