My name is Nicole and I am from North Andover, Massachusetts. During my senior year of high school I fell in love with Suffolk on a campus tour. Now, I am in my fourth and final year at Suffolk and feel even more at home here than I did on that tour four years ago. I am graduating in May 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Philosophy.

I was first drawn to Suffolk’s location in the heart of Boston, but over the years I have realized that the school’s charm is not only in its location, but also in its close-knit community. Whether it is in classes, on the street, at club meetings, or in the dorms, the Suffolk community is constantly willing to learn and grow together. It is this camaraderie that has made Suffolk come to feel like home for me.

In the classroom, I have found nothing but respect, encouragement, and guidance from my professors and classmates. Suffolk allows me to maintain these close relationships, while still experiencing the thrills of Boston. It is the best of both worlds!

When I am not in my own classes, I am a Teaching Assistant for SU101, a course designed to help freshman adapt to college life. I also write for our online student newspaper, the Suffolk Voice, and am on the Editorial Staff for Venture, Suffolk’s literary magazine. During the Spring 2009 semester, I studied abroad in London conducting independent research through an organization called InterFuture. This experience opened up my eyes to the world around me and was one of the best things I have done during my college career.

My time at Suffolk has helped me to delve deeper into my interests, challenge myself, and embrace both the independence and community that come with living in a city like Boston. I want students on the college hunt to remember to keep an open mind and listen to their instincts because at the end of the day, you know what is best for you. Enjoy your search and good luck!
