Hello, my name is John. I am currently a junior at Suffolk University. I am a Communication Major with a focus in Advertising.  I also have a minor in Marketing. I spent my first two years at Suffolk living in the residence halls and now reside in the historic North End.

I am originally from sunny Coral Springs, Florida, but spent most of my childhood living overseas in Asia and Europe. I always have had a strong attraction to city life, so when the time came to begin looking at colleges, I knew that having a city surrounding me was a key aspect of finding the school that would become my new home. In all honesty Suffolk was always talked about by my parents, since both are proud alumni of the university One of the first things that attracted me to Suffolk was its reputation for being a fine standing academic institution where the students graduate with a well respected degree, professional preparedness and are real world ready. I know for myself; professor interaction, discussion and attention was important for me to have while being in school, so when I learned of Suffolk’s small class size, dedicated teaching staff it seemed a perfect match.  Since going to Suffolk I can truly say that Suffolk has offered me several opportunities to better myself for post grad, through class, activities and internships.

Having the luxury of being a student in Boston, on a campus located on historic Beacon Hill and a part of a community of rich history and tradition, is an amazing experience that I value everyday; except on the days that I walk to class in the harsh winter! Since the start of my time at Suffolk I have been a part of many student clubs and organizations that have led me to finding some of my best friends. I am a strong advocate of Suffolk’s S.L.I. (Student Leadership and Involvement) and love being a part of and attending the vast array of student sponsored programs and events across the city. Suffolk’s student body has a true entrepreneurial spirit which is a really cool thing to be a part of every day. I started a college chapter for Smile Train, a charity that works to make cleft lipped and palate a thing of the past, through garnering donations and spreading awareness. I am also involved in Program Council, Professional Marketing Association, STAND, and an Orientation Leader. I recommend all students to join in at least one student, campus organization; it really is a great way to meet new people.

So with all that being said, I am very proud to be a part of the Suffolk Community and can’t imagine myself attending school in any other city. I encourage anyone looking at schools to take the time to research and visit Suffolk, it’s sure to be a unique experience you will not forget.
