I am a junior here at Suffolk University with a double major in Management and Government. Suffolk shares a campus with the State House, a match made in heaven if you ask me. How much better can it be for a political junkie? I chose Suffolk for a few reasons; first was because of the reputation that Suffolk has for being an outstanding academic institution. I was hard pressed to find anyone when I was in high school that hadn’t heard of Suffolk. I have known that I want to go to school in Boston since I began my college search. Our school provides absolutely remarkable dorms including my home in Miller Hall.
 
Since I have been here my love for the school has anything but diminished. The small class sizes allow for a personal connection to your professors. My favorite story is from the second semester of my freshman year. My professor was so dedicated to the success of his students that he called me the night before our final to make sure I did not have any final questions on the material. I thought he called me because I had spent the better portion of the 2 days prior in extra help sessions, not the case. Much to my surprise my suitemate got a call about a half an hour later from the same professor asking if he had any questions before the exam. We found out later that everyone in the class had received similar contact making sure they were ready for the exam. What other University has the staff that is going to make sure you get that kind of attention?

Excellent curriculums, personal connections, beautiful dorms, but it doesn’t stop there. Suffolk makes it so easy to become involved in a variety of different activities that sometimes it can seem a bit overwhelming. I myself am involved in 5 different organizations:

• I am a Trustee Ambassador for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (giving tours of our lovely campus and helping out in the office).
• I’m an academic peer mentor (in-house tutor) in my residence hall, so if you ever need some help with your school work, just ask. 
• Third, I hold a position as a Retention Scholar for the Retention Services Office.
• As part of our Students Political Science Association I have had the opportunity to work on BOTH John McCain’s and Barack Obama’s campaigns.  I do lean a little to the right politically so I am an active member of the College Republicans.  This has helped me gain my seat as a Student Government Association senator for the class of 2011.
• Last but not least I am a member of our internationally competitive Speech and Debate team which travels all around the country and once a year to the international finals to show what Suffolk is made of. 

My life long aspiration is to become an economic advisor to the President of United States at some point. If for some reason that doesn’t pan out the way I would hope I will end up being a lawyer of corporate finance.
