Suffolk was my first choice for college and it was actually the only school I applied to. The programs that Suffolk offers are exactly what I was looking for. I am currently a Junior and a Global Business and Entrepreneurship Double Major. The courses that I am taking are specialized towards my degree and prepare me for my future plans of continuing my education in the graduate program that Suffolk offers.

What may be off-putting to some about the lack of a traditional campus is one of the best features of Suffolk. The city of Boston is Suffolk’s campus and this allows for great community wherever you live. No matter where I go around campus or off-campus I always bump into someone I know, whether it is a friend, a classmate or professor.

I took advantage of the study abroad program offered at Suffolk. For a semester, I studied at the Suffolk University Madrid Campus. This was one of the great opportunities I have participated in during my stay at Suffolk. The classes were taught in English, however, day-to-day life forced me to learn Spanish and immerse myself in the Spanish culture. I lived with a host family that only spoke Spanish, so the language barrier was frustrating at first but it sped up my knowledge of the language very quickly.

The classes I am currently taking, in Boston, allow me to get involved in in-depth discussion and the professors not only remember your name, but they learn what your goals are and the type of person you are. Classes are taught from the professor’s real life experience and not just from a textbook.

I love working as a Trustee Ambassador because it allows me to share my experiences with prospective students.

My favorite things about Suffolk University:

1.) The amazing Global Business program which I am currently enrolled in. I plan on getting my MBA in Global Business and I love the fact that it is required for me to study abroad and to learn a new language. I got to study abroad in Spain in the Spring of 2009 and I plan on going to Germany for an internship in the Summer of 2010.

2.) The city campus offers diversity and something new to do everyday. My friends and I love to find new restaurants that are hidden gems. Also having the Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins as home teams always adds excitement.

3.) The dorms are amazing. I lived at 10 Somerset my freshmen year and had a great time and was able to meet lots of people on my floor. My sophomore year I lived at 10 West which is an apartment style dorm. I had a full kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, stove and microwave as well as a huge bathroom, living room and dining room. Currently, I live in the North End, which is a 10-minute walk from the Suffolk campus. It is Boston’s Little Italy and many Suffolk students choose to live here due to the inexpensive apartments, great community and delicious food.
