back to top^Anytime after January 1st. If you file your FAFSA by mail, you should allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing. If you file electronically, allow 1 to 2 weeks. In order to meet priority deadlines, undergraduates should file by February 15th and grad students by March 15th.

You should receive your award letter about 2 weeks after your file becomes complete. The awarding process normally begins in early March for freshmen, early April for graduate students and mid June for returning students.

back to top^In order to receive federal or state aid, you must be a U.S. citizen, or an eligible non-citizen. International students can be considered for institutional aid and may qualify for certain types of loans, which require a credit-worthy, U.S. citizen to co-sign.
back to top^Your financial aid package may contain a Federal Work-Study award which allows you to work on campus. Students who do not qualify for work-study, can apply to work under Suffolk University’s student employment program.
