The Athletic Training Department provides for the health and welfare of the student-athletes at Suffolk University by providing sports medical care through the care and prevention, management and evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries sustained by our athletes in our 13 varsity sports.
Supporting our Head Athletic Trainer, Jeff Stone, are licensed, certified athletic trainers, orthopedic surgeons and physicians holding specialty degrees.
The Athletic Training program is proud to be affiliated with the Massachusetts General Hospital Sports Medicine Service and the Massachusetts General Hospital Sports Physical Therapy Service. This association with MGH gives Suffolk University access to all the resources of a world class hospital - just across the street from Regan Gym. MGH Sports Medicine provides the medical care for the Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and the New England Revolution, through the efforts of Drs. Thomas Gill, Bert Zarins, Peter Asnis and Director of Physical Therapy Jim Zachazewski.
At Suffolk University, the medical care of the student-athlete is paramount!
Jeff Stone is entering his fourth year as the Athletic Trainer for the Rams. A 1976 graduate of Northeastern University, Boston-Bouve College, he has over 25 years of sports medical experience. His resume includes athletic training experiences at Framingham State College, Ashland and Natick High Schools and the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Stone is currently the District One Director for the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, serving as the New England representative for over 2,000 certified athletic trainers on the NATA Board of Directors.
The Athletic Training room has office hours during the school year from 11:00 am- 4:00 pm. The room is located in the Athletic Department on the second floor of the Ridgeway Building, Room 209, at 148 Cambridge Street, on the campus of Suffolk University. The Athletic Training room is open two hours prior to all events being held in Regan Gymnasium, and is equipped with state-of-the-art therapy modalities (whirlpool, hydrocollator, ultrasound and electric stimulation).
A licensed certified Athletic Trainer will be in attendance at all home contests. Physicians will be in attendance at all home hockey games.
