GNAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year

Jennifer Nelson, Junior, Newburyport, MA

Suffolk’s No. 1 women’s singles player, was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Player of the Year for 2006, her second consecutive Player of the Year award.

Nelson led the conference at No. 1 singles with a 7-1 record in GNAC matches at the No. 1 singles spot. Nelson was 11-1 overall in singles and 7-3 in doubles matches this season.

The junior from Newburyport, MA was also named Player of the Year for 2005 as a sophomore, with an 8-0 GNAC record in 2005.

Nelson led Suffolk to the GNAC semifinals after beating Johnson and Wales 8-1 in the quarterfinals. The Rams lost to eventual GNAC champion Simmons in the semifinals, 7-2.
