Jess Ferreira

Jess Ferreira, a junior shortstop from Cambridge, Mass., was named as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week for the second time this season and sixth time in her career for her efforts in 10 Suffolk contests last week.  Ferreira, the reigning Great Northeast Player of the Year, batted .692 (18-26) with seven doubles, a triple, a home run, 17 runs scored, 14 RBI and three stolen bases on the week.  She went 8-for-8 with five doubles and seven RBI in a sweep at Daniel Webster, added three hits in a 4-3 triumph at Lasell, collected two hits while driving in three runs in a 13-2 victory over Saint Joseph’s (Maine) and reached base in all six plate appearances in a sweep of Albertus Magnus.  Ferreira came within two hits of tying the NCAA Division III national record with 11 consecutive hits over a three-game span against Daniel Webster and Lasell, and she also came within one of tying the NCAA Division III single-game record for doubles in a game with three against Daniel Webster.  Jess recorded more total bases (30) than at-bats (26) on the week, posting a 1.154 slugging percentage and a .765 on-base percentage as well.
