After last season’s success, the Suffolk women’s cross country team is looking to continue the trend and be a strong competitor in the cross country season. Coach Don Murray’s team opens the 2006 race season on Friday, Sept. 15 at Daniel Webster College.
The Rams won one women’s race last season, their first ever win as a women’s team. “Last year we had a successful season with the men and women winning meets,” Murray said. “We hope to do the same thing this season. We will find out more as we get into the meets.”
The Rams return two experienced runners and hope to be able to field a full team as the season gets underway. Junior Jamie Mancuso (Endfield, CT) returns for her third season and sophomore Christina Johnides (Centerport, NY) returns for her second season.
The Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28. The Eastern College Athletic Conference championships are Saturday, Nov. 4 and the NCAA Division 3 Regional meet is Saturday, Nov. 11.
