Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School is hosting New England’s first ever Innovation and Design Week in conjunction with Suffolk’s Centennial Celebration. Located in the heart of Boston, Suffolk University is a "center of excellence" for innovation and design management education for the region.
Earlier this year, the Business School announced a new Executive MBA degree concentration in Innovation and Design Management. This 18 month Saturday-only program provides the perfect bridge between design and business. Its multi-disciplinary approach gives participants the skills needed to effectively manage design and innovation at both the strategic and product level.
On Thursday, November 9, The Center for Innovation and Change Leadership will sponsor a breakfast workshop, "Innovation and Speed-to-Market in Design Driven Industries" at Suffolk’s Sargent Hall, 120 Tremont Street, Boston. Moderated by Pat Hunt, VP of Corporate Relations at Index Stock Imagery in New York, the six member panel is made up of leaders from innovative companies which range from Sun Microsystems to the Zorian Bat Company who makes major league baseball bats. Panel member presentations will be followed by a Q&A period where audience members can ask for additional details on innovation successes from real world experiences of the panel. Co-sponsored by the Merrimack Valley Venture Forum, the event promises to be a lively entrepreneurial discussion on what it takes to survive and thrive in today’s economic climate where change and innovation is the lifeblood of successful businesses. The following evening, Friday November 10th, Business School Faculty member, entrepreneur, and inventor, Dr. Sushil Bhatia will convene the 1st Annual 5K New Product Innovation Competition Awards Ceremony. This Competition was established to encourage students to turn their new product ideas into a commercial reality. Where most business schools hold business plan competitions, the Sawyer Business School is the first business school to develop a “New Product Innovation Awards” initiative.
The keynote speaker for the event is the legendary Art Fry, inventor of 3M’s Post It Pads. Cash prizes will be awarded for the development of innovative new products and intellectual capital. For more information, contact Sushil Bhatia at 617.305.1796, or contact Teri Malionek at 617.573.8631.
