Research and Evaluation Projects
Boston Public Health Commission/AIDS Bureau
The Center’s longstanding relationship with the Boston Public Health Commission’s AIDS Bureau dates back to 1994. The Center’s contract with the BPHC, which amounts to approximately $200,000 annually, focuses on measuring outcomes for Ryan White Title I services. In addition, in 2003 the Center worked with the Department of Public Health on the “Voices of Experience” project. “Voices of Experience” is the third consumer to consumer survey intended to assess the needs of people living with HIV (PLWH) in Massachusetts.
Lowell/Springfield Police Departments
The Center, with Professor Brenda Bond, is excited to begin working on two grants through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security in conjunction with the Lowell and Springfield police departments to look at strategies concerning gang violence, including analyzing and assessing crime trends, helping to define and measure retaliatory violence among each city’s gangs, working with partners to refine program goals and objectives, and identifying indicators of success.
Boston Alcohol & Substance Abuse Program, Inc.
The Center is evaluating a new Boston ASAP program directed to meet the specific needs of residents of sober houses in the Greater Boston area. Funded by a grant from the Center for Community Recovery Interventions of the Mass Housing Finance Agency, the Center is working to develop a report of recommendations for the program based on six question surveys taken from program participants.

Summer Jobs Program
In partnership with the Department of Social Services Boston Regional Office and Communities for People, the Center will conduct its seventh annual Summer Jobs program in August of 2009. Over the summer, youth aged 16-18 will work with nonprofit agencies in the Boston area to learn valuable job skills and gain confidence as employees. Moakley Community Board Bank
The Center for Public Management will be running the pilot program for the Moakley Community Board Bank in Spring 2009. This project will The Moakley Community Board Bank at Suffolk University has the dual mission of providing university sponsored support to Greater Boston nonprofit organizations by matching the skills and interests of Suffolk University graduate students and alums to the specific needs of small and medium sized corporations, and giving all those participating in the program the full range of competencies and capabilities to serve on their Board of Directors/Trustees. We believe that this opportunity will enhance the life of those within the Suffolk community, help the organizations better realize their missions, and build a mutually beneficial relationship between the nonprofit, academic, and business worlds.
