• Global Business Major

Welcome to the Global Business Program for Undergraduates!

The Undergraduate Global Business program is designed to help you combine a major in International Business with one functional area of business such as accounting, finance, marketing, management, information systems, entrepreneurship, or even public management. Thus, the program gives you a double major!

What’s Special?

Apart from a double major, the program offers an internship and an immersion experience by integrating a foreign language requirement, travel experience, and elective seminars.

How long is the program?

The program requires the same number of credits (124) as any other business major.  If  you follow a carefully structured schedule, you will complete it in the same amount of time, 4 years.

Internships in Washington DC

Washington, DC is not just the seat of the US government.  It is also the location of the headquarters of major international institutions, such as the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the Organization of American States, among many others.  And in recent decades, a thriving community of international security and international development think-tanks, non-governmental organizations, and consulting companies and experts has grown around these institutions, as well as a growing number of multinational companies.  Washington is thus an increasingly important destination for anybody interested in an international business career.

Suffolk offers full-time one-semester (or summer-long) internships in Washington, as well as 2-week seminars during the winter break, through our collaboration with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars (TWC). Applications are now open for spring and summer internships, and for a seminar on national politics this January. Contact John C. Berg, Professor and Chair, Government Department (jberg@suffolk.edu)

New journal publishing international business research by undergraduate students

The Journal for Global Business and Community (JGBC), has become an e-journal of CUIBE (the Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education).

From the JGBC description:

The Journal for Global Business and Community is a multidisciplinary e-journal dedicated to serving both those participating in and affected by the emerging global economy. It offers undergraduate students a venue for publishing works that explore
• the functional dimensions of global business organizations and behavior.
• the relationships between these businesses and the global economy with the political, social, cultural, economic, legal, technological, ethical, and moral issues derived from those relationships.
We especially welcome submissions produced as senior thesis, independent study work, and, of course, papers judged "of excellence" in varied undergraduate courses.
Please visit http://jgbc.fiu.edu/ and find out more. There, you can register, login, and submit a paper for publication review.
