Public Management Professors Receive Faculty Recognition Awards
Last September,
Richard Beinecke, Associate Professor of Public Management and Healthcare Administration, received the Dean’s Excellence in Service Award.
Gerasimos (Jerry) Gianakis, Associate Professor of Public Management, received the Dean’s Excellence in Research Award. Beinecke and Gianakis both received a plaque and a $3,000 stipend.
In presenting the awards, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
Morris McInnes remarked, “Rick Beinecke has provided service to the Sawyer Business School, Suffolk University, his alma mater, his profession on a national and international basis, the Town of Concord, and various Democratic causes and campaigns over many years. He exemplifies service on so many fronts.”
“Jerry Gianakis has sustained a research and publication agenda at a torrid pace ever since 1989 when his academic endeavors first hit print. He has tied his research to his professional and teaching interests in an admirable fashion. His roughly 30 pieces of high quality published research have been coauthored with many colleagues here at Suffolk and around the country; he has also published as sole author about one third of his work. His work is in the area of criminal justice, and public financial management and performance measurement.”
Professor Brendan Burke Adds to Research Portfolio
Adding to his already impressive work, Assistant Professor of Public Management
Brendan Burke is publishing a piece on leadership as part of the book Transforming Public Leadership for the 21st Century, edited by Ricardo Morse, Terry Buss and Morgan Kinghorn. His section is entitled “Four-Frame Leadership in Authentic, Results-oriented Management Reform – Case Studies in Canada and the United States.” He also has a piece on adaptive leadership in the September 2007 issue of
Administrative Theory & Praxis entitled “Adaptive Leadership as a facilitator of Public Management on Environmental Sustainability Issues.”
