Special Event for Healthcare Alumni and Students

Paul F. Levy is President and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Mr. Levy took over BIDMC in January 2002, when its viability was in question.  Today, BIDMC is prospering, serving as a model for leadership and quality in healthcare.

On February 12, Mr. Levy gave a presentation at a special event to students, faculty and friends of the Suffolk University Healthcare Programs.  He spoke about his experience at BIDMC and some of the challenges facing healthcare organizations and leaders.  Here are some of his most memorable remarks:

"We will be the exemplars of an academic medical center that is known for a few things. First, we will be the place where you go and are treated warmly, respectfully, and compassionately, where there is more than a tolerance of diversity, there is a celebration of diversity. Second, we want you feel you have had good service. Third, we will be a place where you feel better when you walk out than when you came in.”

Mr. Levy also mentioned his blog as a vehicle for communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
