MHA

Liz’s job at a medical recruitment company opened her eyes to the wide variety of healthcare careers, and helped her see that the hospital was where she wanted to establish her own career. After a few years working at Tufts New England Medical Center, Liz realized it was time to continue her education. “A master’s degree is becoming a more common requirement for advancement in this field,” she notes. “I was particularly excited about Suffolk’s MHA degree, because I wanted to focus exclusively on healthcare administration. Suffolk’s course schedule allowed me to attend class at night while I worked days, so it was the perfect fit.”

“The Suffolk MHA offers relevant, industry-specific courses that do a great job of preparing you for the everyday challenges of healthcare administration,” Liz says. She credits her class work for her success in her current role as an administrative manager at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she manages the fiscal, human resources and operational issues for the busy outpatient diabetes practice. “I’m glad I’m using my education and skills to help others. What I learned in my MHA program was immediately put to use in this job, especially in regards to the financial aspects of my responsibilities.”

Outside of work, Liz volunteers as co-chair of the Suffolk University Healthcare Administration Alumni Council. The council and its networking events have been very warmly received. “People think it’s a great idea, and are excited to participate. It is a valuable networking tool, and a wonderful example of how the Business School supports its students and alumni. I would recommend the Suffolk MHA program to anyone considering a career in healthcare administration.”
