Global Business program students must have at least two semesters of college-level instruction in a global business language. The objective of the foreign language requirement is that students work towards business communication proficiency in the major “business languages” of the world, which includes: French, Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Japanese, and Arabic. Other languages will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Director of the Global Business Program. Suffolk offers courses in all of these languages except Russian.
Waiving the Language Requirement:
For French or Spanish, students may demonstrate competence by taking a placement test at the Language Lab (Fenton 530) and placing above the second semester (102 level) course. Students should bring the placement results to the Director of the Global Business Program to determine whether they meet the requirement or not. For demonstrating competence in other languages, you should contact the Director of the Global Business Program. Students who demonstrate the required competence may use the credits towards Free Electives. Waiving the language requirement does not earn a student credits towards the degree.
