Overseas travel is an important part of the Global Business Program experience. This requirement may be satisfied by completing a minimum of one travel seminar, a semester study abroad, or, with prior permission from the Director of the Global Business Program, a Global Business Internship abroad. Students must register for the zero-credit course SIB 560 - Global Travel Requirement in the semester in which they plan to satisfy the travel requirement. A minimum 2.5 GPA is required for travel seminars and study abroad experiences.

Global Travel Seminar Option

The Global Travel Seminar is a one-week seminar that counts as a three-credit course, and up to one travel seminar may also be used as a Global Business major elective. Students meet for class three to four times in Boston and then travel as a group with a faculty member. The class meets for a final session in Boston to wrap up and debrief the experience. Scholarships may be available to those in need.

Available travel seminars are announced each semester throughout the Sawyer Business School and on the Business School website well ahead of registration deadlines. To register for a Travel Seminar, students must have their application approved by the Undergraduate Business Programs Office and submit it by the applicable deadline with a non-refundable deposit. On-line registration for travel seminars is not available.

For more information about Global Travel Seminars, go to the Global Travel Seminars webpage.

Study Abroad Option

Study abroad involves enrollment in semester-long or summer session courses at either Suffolk’s Madrid campus or at one of the programs open to Suffolk students at other institutions. All courses that students plan to take abroad must be preapproved by the Undergraduate Business Programs Office to ensure optimum credit distribution. Students interested in study abroad should plan to do so during their sophomore year or the fall of their junior year.

Federal scholarships are available to US citizens to support undergraduate study abroad for credit. Please speak with the Director of Global Business Programs for more information.

Students may choose to study at Suffolk’s campus in Madrid, Spain,  or at one of the institutions listed below, with  which Suffolk maintains exchange agreements. These articulation agreements facilitate tuition and course credit transfer procedures. Additional options are available through Suffolk's Study Abroad Office.
