If you like the simple to use Thunderbird email client, but also need to manage your schedule, you can now do it within Thunderbird.
Lightning is a calendar add-on for your email software. It offers calendaring features directly in the Thunderbird interface.
It also works with files based on the iCal standard. These files have the .ics file suffix and can be opened, imported, exported and subscribed to.
The first time you run Thunderbird after installing Lightning, be sure to go to the Lightning button in the Tools > Options dialog and manually set your timezone correctly, and then restart Thunderbird once more. This will prevent your events from being created in wrong timezone.
