Thinking Forward to an MBA in a few years?  Many undergraduate students choose to enter MBA programs after a few years working in their field, whether that is biology, architecture, or public relations. Many MBA programs make it easy for you to do so. They typically waive a handful of undergraduate courses if recently completed and a certain grade was earned. For instance, at Suffolk, should you apply and be accepted, the MBA program will waive up to 24 credits of its MBA core requirements if those courses were taken in the last five years and a grade of B or better was earned.

If this is something that appeals to you, consider how signing up for a General Business Minor and then making the right course choices will put you on the fast track for completing an MBA at Suffolk by lowering the overall number of courses needed to complete the degree. Note: several of the courses listed below have prerequisites:

  • MGT 317 Organizational Behavior can be used to waive MBA610.
  • MKT 210 Marketing can be used to waive MBA660.
  • ACCT 201 and ACCT 202 together can waive MBA640.
  • ISOM 310 Management Information Systems can be used to waive MBA 670.
  • FIN 310 Finance can be used to waive MBA650.
  • BLE 214 Principles of Business Law and BLE215 Business Ethics and Law together can waive MBA680.

Courses that may already be part of your CAS degree or taken to fulfill free elective requirements can also waive MBA core courses, specifically at Suffolk consider that:

  • EC 101 and EC 102 together can be used to waive MBA630.
  • Stats 250 may waive MBA620 (1.5 cr.); check with MBA Programs Office.
  • ISOM 319 may waive MBA625 (1.5 cr.); check with MBA.  MBA620 and 625 will be combined in Fall 2010 as a 3cr. MBA622 course, that can only be waived by completing both Stats 250 and ISOM 319 with B or better grade in the past five years.
