What educational background must I have for admission to the Suffolk MBA Online Program?
You must possess the equivalent of a four-year undergraduate US degree. A degree in business administration is not required. Suffolk MBA students come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds.
I began my MBA at a different university some years ago, but never completed my degree. May I complete my MBA in the Suffolk MBA Online Program?
Yes. Consider applying to the Suffolk MBA Online Program to complete your degree. Your previous course work will be evaluated for waiver and transfer credit eligibility. All Suffolk MBA CORE courses may be waived according to the waiver policy . Electives may be transferred from another AACSB accredited MBA Program, according to the transfer credit policy .
Alternatively, you can be a Visiting Student and transfer credits earned in the Suffolk MBA to your original institution.
I began my Suffolk MBA on campus some years ago, but never completed my degree. May I complete my degree in the Suffolk MBA Online Program?
Yes. Some students leave the Boston area before their degree is complete, or their lifestyle changes and they can no longer take classes or come to campus. Simply complete the Re-Entry Application Form and fax it to the Graduate Admission Office at 617-305-1733. Indicate that you prefer to re-enter the MBA Online program. You must be in good academic and financial standing with Suffolk University. When re-entry admission is granted, you will receive an updated MBA Program of Study indicating courses needed to complete your degree.
I am an MBA student at another university. May I take a Suffolk MBA Online course?
Yes, through the Visiting Student option. Students in MBA programs at select universities across the US have supplemented their program of study with a Suffolk MBA Online course: The University of Illinois, Boston University, Rutgers University, University of Louisville, University of New Mexico, Babson, Long Island University, San Jose State University, and the University of Nevada at Reno.
I already have an MBA. May I take some specific online courses for professional development?
Yes, through the Advanced Professional Certificate Program (APC). You may take a maximum of five courses in this non-degree program, either full-time or part-time.
What is the GMAT and how do I prepare for it?
The GMAT is a computer-adaptive exam that tests quantitative, verbal and analytical skills. Algebra and geometry are emphasized in the quantitative portion. Preparation may include formal prep classes, GMAC generated self-study materials, and self-help materials available in bookstores or library reference sections. You may also want to look for algebra and geometry tutorial software materials. Some students find it helpful to visit a university college of education library to use algebra and geometry textbooks that include teachers’ guides for future student-teachers. May I enroll in Suffolk MBA Online courses before I take the GMAT?
Yes, if you qualify for the MAPS Program (Management Advancement Professional Studies).
I do not consider myself technologically advanced. What happens if I need technical assistance?
The software that powers the Suffolk MBA Online platform was designed to be user friendly. Our technology partner provides around the clock technical support. Technical assistance is an absolute must-have in an online program. The Help Desk is available 24/7 and is an email or phone call away. Insuring you have the Technical Requirements needed for the online program will alleviate many technical difficulties. All admitted students are given 24/7 access to the Help Desk.
Do I have to be logged in at a particular time?
Each course has a weekly real-time chat meeting . Other than chat, students may log on to their course at anytime from anywhere. For busy professionals and those whose jobs required extensive traveling, logging in and reviewing threaded discussions, archived chat logs and journals is a highly organized and efficient way to learn and review course material. You can also log on and download and print materials for later reading. Your Suffolk MBA Online classroom is as close as your internet connection.
Is there a residency requirement?
No. The Suffolk MBA Online program is a fully online degree program. You are not required to attend any courses on campus. The method of e-learning delivery is via the web. Students do have the option of enrolling in campus courses at our Boston, Franklin, North Andover, and West Barnstable, including our one-week global travel seminars.

MBA Online students may enroll in a maximum of four campus-based Suffolk MBA courses, including one-week global travel seminars . Benefits include added flexibility in terms of scheduling; a broader menu of courses; and an increased professional network. Suffolk MBA Online students may also transfer in 2 elective courses (6 credits) from an AACSB International accredited MBA Program near to their place of residence. The transfer credit courses must be approved in advance by the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.
