In this increasingly complex world, legal issues are part of all aspects of business and public administration. Leaders and managers must not only understand legal issues, but develop an organizational culture based on ethical decision making.
The Business law and Ethics foundations provide assistance to all majors at the Sawyer Business School. Accounting, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Global Business, Information Systems and Operations Management, Management, Marketing and Public Administration rely heavily on Legal and Ethical considerations for their decision making processes.The Minor in Legal Studies provides a valuable insight into the practice of law. Students who wish to continue onto law school will be provided a firm grounding as preparation to taking courses in the law school curriculum; therefore the minor may be considered an excellent pre-law curriculum. Suffolk University has an active student pre-law association. In general, College students may undertake a functional business minor when they have achieved junior standing and have completed MGT 101. Students selecting a minor in Legal Studies are required to take BLE 214 Principles of Business Law and three of the following:
