Master of Public Administration Curriculum

Effective Fall 2011

The 42-credit MPA consists of 14 courses:

  • 4 Foundation of Public Service courses
  • 3 Managing Public Service Organization Courses
  • 1 Capstone course
  • 6 Electives (18 credits)

PAD 711 Foundations of Public Administration and Service

PAD 712 Public Service Information Based Management

PAD 713 Managing Public Service Financial Resources

PAD 715 Quantitative Analysis

Managing Public Service Organizations courses:

PAD 716 Managing Public Service Human Resources

PAD 717 Organizational Change

PAD 718 Leadership Strategies for an Interconnected World

Capstone course:

PAD 890 Strategic Management in Public Service

Electives* (18 credits):

Six (6) PAD or HLTH1 800-900 level courses

Students may also choose up to two (2) electives (6 credits) from other Suffolk University Graduate Programs with prior permission from the Department Chairperson.

*Students with no professional public management experience are required to take PAD 859 (internship). This 3-credit course will count as one of your six electives.
