BSBA Degree Requirements

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) includes a minimum completion of 124 semester hours of coursework (including at least 30 semester hours to be completed at Suffolk); maintaining a minimum 2.0 overall cumulative average and at least 2.0 grade point average in your major and minor fields. 

Prerequisites for Business Core Courses

The Business School’s BSBA curriculum is enables you to acquire knowledge and skills cumulatively, building from introductory material to more specialized or advanced study in your major. For those courses that require more preparation, there are prerequisites that must be completed first.  You’ll be responsible for taking courses in the prescribed sequence. This means that:     

  • All prerequisites must be satisfied. 
  • You’ll need to satisfactorily complete 54 credits in order to register for upper division courses in the Sawyer Business School  (Business undergraduate courses numbered 300 or higher) for which you have met the necessary prerequisites. 
  • You should plan to complete freshman and sophomore required courses prior to registering in junior-level courses.

Business Core Courses (34 Credits)

Students must complete the following business core courses: 

Honors sections of business core courses are also available.

Major Required Courses (18 – 24 Credits)

You must complete six to eight courses in one of the following major fields: accounting, information systems, entrepreneurship, finance, global business (required double major),  management, marketing, or public administration

Minor Required Courses (optional)

You can choose to minor in accounting, legal studies, information systems, electronic commerce systems, entrepreneurship, finance, management, marketing, and public administration. 

Free Elective Courses

The number of free electives depends upon the specific major requirements.  You may choose free electives in either the College of Arts and Sciences or the Business School. Free electives taken in the Business School may apply to a Business minor.
