• Information for Faculty/Staff

Suffolk University is dedicated to a full university education for all its students and ensures that all students have access to university programs and services. The Dean of Students Office promotes access to education and works to identify, encourage, and facilitate the academic goals of students with disabilities. The Dean of Students Office:

  • coordinates services for students with disabilities, which includes verifying eligibility for services based on diagnostic documentation

  • provides advocacy services for students with disabilities

  • provides assistance to members of the campus community in responding to disability-related issues and concerns, and

  • works with the larger campus community to overcome architectural, attitudinal, and administrative barriers

The Dean of Students Office works in collaboration with the Ballotti Learning Center, Health Services, the Counseling Center, and others to provide students with disabilities with timely, comprehensive, and appropriate services while enrolled at Suffolk.

Each semester, over 200 undergraduate and graduate students at Suffolk University have specifically identified themselves as having a physical, learning, medical, or psychiatric disability, or have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD). Students with learning disabilities and AD/HD represent the largest population of students with disabilities. Some disabilities are readily visible; more frequently, they are not and may be difficult to identify. It is not unusual for a student to have multiple disabilities.
