• Student Involvement

Each year, multiple Suffolk clubs and organizations sponsor programs to educate others about their culture and their contributions to a diverse society. Many of them collaborate with other groups and departments to offer a colorful spectrum of activities. Moreover, Suffolk students have been the driving force behind the expansion of Unity Week as they lead numerous initiatives like the assembly project (mosaic, quilt, puzzles), Unity Week Showcase, and Unity Week Fair.

Example Activities:

  • Guest Speaker: Robyn Ochs - Crossing Lines: Identity and the Sexuality Spectrum.
  • Unity Week Showcase - a student show which they share their cultures through forms of expression and performances.
  • Hope, Action, Change: Make it Happen at Suffolk - S.O.U.L.S. and Moakley Institute's civic engagement, round table discussion.
  • The Black Jew Dialogues - A two-actor play addressing the history and absurdity of prejudice within the context of the American Black-Jew experience.  Sponsored by Program Council and Suffolk Hillel.

Other ways to contribute:

  • Send a representative to the Unity Week planning meetings.
  • Talk to your professors about Unity Week and suggest that they devote an Open Class to the themes of Unity week.

Finally, you and/or your club/organization can perform in the Unity Week Showcase. Members of the campus community express Unity through song, dance, and theatrical performances at the showcase. The Unity Week Showcase will serve as a celebratory closing to this exciting week!
