2006-2007 SGA Leadership Awards – Call for Nominations

You are cordially invited to actively participate in the Student Leadership Awards nominations process. The Leadership Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the brand new Renaissance Seaport Hotel  (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/boswf-renaissance-boston-waterfront-hotel/)

Below you will find an online form that can be completed for each nominee and each category. Faculty members, staff members, and students are all encouraged to nominate deserving people based on the criteria provided. Please remember that you must submit a separate nomination for each person and category. The awards for which we are seeking nominations include:

Outstanding Senior of the Year

The “Outstanding Senior of the Year” recognizes a senior who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her academic career and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Outstanding Junior of the Year

The “Outstanding Junior of the Year” recognizes a junior who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her academic career and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Outstanding Sophomore of the Year

The “Outstanding Sophomore of the Year” recognizes a sophomore who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her academic career and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Outstanding Freshman of the Year

The “Outstanding Freshman of the Year” recognizes a new student who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her first year at Suffolk University and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Outstanding Transfer Student of the Year

The “Outstanding Transfer Student of the Year” recognizes a transfer student who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his or her first year as a transfer and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Outstanding Administrator of the Year

The “Outstanding Administrator of the Year” recognizes a full-time administrative staff member who has displayed service to his/her department and advocated for students and the improvement of campus life at Suffolk University.

Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year (College of Arts & Sciences)

The “Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year” award recognizes a full or part-time faculty member who has exhibited exemplary teaching skills and displayed outstanding service to students beyond the scope of the classroom.

Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year (Sawyer Business School)

The “Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year” award recognizes a full or part-time faculty member who has exhibited exemplary teaching skills and displayed outstanding service to students beyond the scope of the classroom.

Outstanding Support Staff of the Year

The “Outstanding Support Staff of the Year” award recognizes a full or part-time administrative support staff member who has displayed service to his or her department and to students by improving overall campus life at Suffolk University.

Outstanding Student Organization of the Year

The “Outstanding Student Organization of the Year” award is presented to a registered club or organization in good standing.  The student organization has gone above and beyond the call of duty in improving campus life at Suffolk University.

Outstanding Student Club/Organization Advisor of the Year

The “Outstanding Student Club/Organization Advisor of the Year” recognizes a faculty or staff member currently serving as an advisor who has displayed outstanding service to their club or organization and to student development at Suffolk University.

Outstanding New Student Organization of the Year

The “Outstanding New Student Organization of the Year” award is presented to a club or organization registered and in good standing within the academic year.  This award is presented to an organization based on involvement and contribution to the Suffolk University community.

Most Improved Student Organization of the Year

The “Most Improved Student Organization of the Year” award is presented to a club/organization which over the academic year has increased membership, visibility on campus, and contributed with greater levels of activity.

Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year

The “Outstanding Female Athlete of the Year” recognizes a female athlete who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to her respective varsity or intramural sport at Suffolk University.

Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year

The “Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year” recognizes a male athlete who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to his respective varsity or intramural sport at Suffolk University.

Outstanding Coach of the Year

The “Outstanding Coach of the Year” award is presented to a Suffolk University Athletics coach who has helped support and guide student athletes to become better leaders both on and off the field.

Unsung Hero - Faculty or Staff

The “Unsung Hero Award” recognizes a faculty or staff member whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognized, and who has displayed dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his or her career at Suffolk University.

Unsung Hero – Student

The “Unsung Hero Award” recognizes a student whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognized, and who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her academic career.

Campus Sponsored Program of the Year

The “Campus Sponsored Program of the Year” recognizes an activity, event or program which best exposed students to various opportunities to learn about themselves and others, promoted a sense of campus community and complemented the co-curricular events at Suffolk.  Programs nominated for this category must be sponsored primarily by an academic or administrative department.

Student Organization Sponsored Program of the Year

The “Student Organization Sponsored Program of the Year” recognizes an activity, event or program that best exposed students to various opportunities to learn about themselves and others, promoted a sense of campus community and complemented the co-curricular events at Suffolk University.  Programs nominated for this category must be sponsored primarily by a registered student organization.

Outstanding Campus Organization of the Year

The “Outstanding Campus Organization of the Year” award is presented to a student organization sponsored by an academic or administrative department that has dedicated their time and efforts to serving and improving campus life at Suffolk University.

To nominate a person, event, or group, please complete the online form for each nomination no later than Friday, March 21, 2008 at 5pm. Nominators and nominees are invited to attend the Student Leadership Awards Banquet that has become a tradition of recognizing the contribution and excellence of the various members of the Suffolk University community. You will receive an invitation to this event in the mail if you are a nominator or a nominee. We look forward to your nominations!
