When you join a Living Learning Community (LLC) in one of Suffolk's four residence halls, you'll live your education. As a first-year student, you'll be surrounded by friends and classmates who share your academic interests and are just as excited as you are. You'll be challenged to really immerse yourself in your chosen field (or find one!) and to explore academic and networking opportunities.

Suffolk offers LLCs for many academic majors, and each offers monthly programs for residents. Can't get enough communication and journalism? Great. Want to hang with fellow honors students? Okay. Haven't declared yet? No problem. No matter which field you're in, you'll get to know your professors as personal mentors and discover all that you can do with your major.

All LLCs exist as specifically designated sections of our residence halls' floors. Each has a dedicated resident assistant and a faculty advisor. Suffolk offers 13 communities especially designed for students in:

Accounting 

This is your chance to explore accounting before you actually take courses on the subject! You'll get to know your classmates and faculty members, and visit possible internship sites like one of the Big Four. You'll also receive mentoring about your future classes, internship possibilities, and networking opportunities. This LLC is linked with SU 101 S22 Freshman Year Experience, W 2:30-3:45pm. 

Communication and Journalism

Got the write stuff or the broadcasting bug, or not sure about your communication concentration? You'll enjoy workshops, films, and special programs. Plus, you'll get the inside scoop on where you can intern, whether you're interested in PR or the press. This LLC is linked with CJN 101 D Introduction to Communication, TH 4-5:15pm.

Entrepreneurship

Brainstorming great ideas and making them happen with like-minded peers aren't just classroom concepts. Embark on the adventure of living with others in your major. You'll experience entrepreneurship 24/7. This LLC is linked with SBS 101 C Business Foundations, MW 11:30am-12:45pm. 

Global Business

The world's a diverse place, and this LLC will help you thrive in it. You'll learn about study abroad opportunities, networking, and the wider world of business that inspired you to declare the major in the first place. This LLC is linked with SIB 101 C Globalization, MW 11:30am-12:45pm. 

Government

Have a passion for politics? So do the students who live here. Through special programs, you'll get to know more about your career options and meet government alumni and faculty. This LLC is linked with GOV 110 B Introduction to American Democracy, MWF 8-8:50am.

Honors (College of Arts & Sciences, Sawyer Business School)

If you're in the honors program, you can live in one of these communities. Enhance your education with on-campus special programs, leadership programs, and workshops to develop your career-related skills. You and your peers will also work on a community service project and enjoy social events with top-notch faculty members, students, and alumni. 

Management

This brand-new LLC is the place to be for management majors. You'll learn about business leadership's many faucets on site visits to companies with your classmates, RA and LLC faculty advisor. Plus, you'll meet alumni from your program and discuss real-world management challenges.

Marketing

You don't need a focus group to tell you it's a good idea to live here. With your fellow marketing majors, you'll discover all you can do with your creativity on visits to potential internship sites (think Google, for starters!). You'll also be inspired when you meet alumni with successful marketing careers. This LLC is linked with SU 101 S06 Freshman Year Experience, W 4-5:15pm. 

Pre-Law

It's never too early to started prepping for a career in law, and your fellow LLC residents know that, too. Together, you'll enjoy special programs that will introduce you to the many opportunities the law field offers you. Plus, you can practice those Latin terms with them! This LLC is linked with SU 101 S07 Freshman Year Experience, W 10-11:15am.

Psychology

Live in a diverse community of people who are truly psyched about understanding the human mind. You'll be connected to student groups, trips and special programs that will enrich your studies and expand your networking opportunities in the field. This LLC is linked with PSYCH 114 CE General Psychology, T 5:30-8:30pm. 

Undeclared (College of Arts & Sciences, Sawyer Business School)

Got something to declare? So do the students who live in these communities. These LLCs are designed to help you explore your options when it comes to academic majors and career possibilities. You'll enjoy programs with faculty, Career Services staff, student groups and alumni.
