Building floor plans and descriptions of spaces available

Floor plans indicating available rooms will be displayed beginning the week of March 31st in each RLSP office.

Floors/rooms that are not available will be announced when the floor plans are posted.  Several floors in both 150 Tremont and Miller Hall and most suites at 10 West Street will be held as freshmen floors and will not be available.  Most suites will be available at 150 Tremont, and, subsequently, fewer corridor rooms.

Consolidation
As stated in the License Agreement, the Director of Residence Life and Summer Programs or her designee reserves the right to make a room change for the purposes of consolidation.  It is possible that this will happen during the Open Room Selection process to ensure that all eligible students have a room.

Payment issues

You will pay a total of $1,000 in non-refundable deposits.  $300 will be held as your damage deposit for the period of time that
you are a resident student and $700 will appear as a credit on the deferred fall or spring bill.  For ALL residents, the June 2nd $500
deposit will appear as a credit on the July tuition bill for the fall charges.

At least $700 of your total deposits will be credited to your Fall 2008 tuition bill.  Each resident student needs to maintain a $300 damage deposit.  If necessary, your damage account will be brought up to $300 and any remaining money from your $1,000 room deposit will appear as a credit on your fall invoice.  .

Registration

You will lose your lottery number unless you are registered for fall 2008 classes by April 7, 2008.

The University reserves the right to reassign a residence space if a resident student is not registered for classes and does not have financial clearance from the Student Accounts Office by the tuition payment due dates for each semester:  August 1, 2008 for fall and December 15, 2008 for spring.  A resident student can also lose his/her assignment if they are deemed “not registered” at any time in the semester.  In addition to the loss of residence hall space, a student who does not have financial clearance will also lose class registration for the semester

Medical consideration

Students who participate in the Room Selection Process must select a room that best meets their individual needs.  Students who are physically challenged or have medical impairments who can demonstrate that they were unable to select a room that reasonably meets their needs may be eligible for room reassignment following the Room Selection Process.  These students should submit, in writing to the Director of Residence Life and Summer Programs, the reasons that their chosen room fails to meet their needs.  Appropriate documentation from a current attending physician(s) must accompany the student’s letter.

Reassignment, if appropriate, will be based on demonstrated need and lottery level.  It is important to include your room preferences in your letter.  Additional documentation may be requested.

The Directors of Residence Life and Summer Programs, Health Services and the Counseling Center will review each request.

Request from student due: Friday, April 25, 2008
Response to requests by:  May 16, 2008 (a response will likely not include your re-assignment, if applicable)

Iif you can not be present at group or open room lottery/selection

Any student who cannot be present at either Group or Open Room Lottery/Selection must complete a proxy form.  A proxy form allows the student to identify someone who can select a room on their behalf.  It is important to be as specific and clear with the proxy as possible.  If you do not identify a proxy, the Residence Life staff will serve as your proxy.  If we do not have a proxy form from you, we will not pick a room
