Appointments for individual counseling or for any other services offered by the Counseling Center may be made in person with the administrative staff in 73 Tremont Street, fifth floor, or by telephone, 617-573-8226. Requests for assistance or for information made after business hours are recorded by the Center's voice mail and/or are logged in at the University switchboard. Messages are checked on a regular basis by staff members and will be responded to as soon as possible, but no later than the following morning.

During business hours (Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.), a staff member is available for assistance in emergencies based on a first come/first served basis between 11:00-12:00 and 2:00-3:00, daily. For non-business hours or times when the university is closed, the Counseling Center provides an Emergency on-call service. Students will receive a brief psychological assessment and the clinician on call will determine treatment options for the student.

When students are referred to the Center's consulting psychiatrists, they receive reminders at least two days in advance of their scheduled appointment. Students should make every effort to keep and to be on time for appointments, as scheduled. Notification of a cancellation should be made as early as possible, in order that appointments can be made for other students on the waiting list. Clients should also be aware that by not keeping regularly scheduled appointments with the psychiatrist(s), it is very likely that prescribed medication(s) will run out. In such situations, the wait to have them refilled will be longer than that recommended by the prescribing psychiatrist.

Any questions regarding how to make appointments or to discuss concerns regarding referrals to the Counseling Center may be addressed by calling extension 8226.
