SU-101/102 Course Sequence

SU101: Freshman Year Experience

1 credit, fall semester
This course is designed to ease your transition from high school to college and to connect you with resources pivotal to your success as a student. The focus of the course is to help acclimate you to the Suffolk culture and provide you with a better understanding of what is expected of you as a first year student. SU101 will afford you the opportunity to explore campus resources, learn how to effectively study and manage your time, and assist you with getting involved on campus.

SU102: Academic, Personal & Professional Success

1 credit, spring semester
Designed to promote critical thinking and analysis, SU102 is comprised of three seminars, each four weeks in length. All seminars will include a faculty or guest presenter. The seminars will focus on the psychology of learning, career exploration and understanding the value and cost of earning a college degree.

Academic Coaching and Advising

Fall and spring semesters

Academic coaching is a partnership between you as a student and a professional staff member. You will meet your academic coach every second week for 30 minute appointments. Regular coaching sessions will provide you with the skills, guidance and support necessary to achieve academic success. During coaching sessions, you and your coach will assess your current study skills and habits, set goals, and work to support you in becoming a more effective learner. Your academic coach will also be your advisor, your first year at Suffolk.
