    Ballotti Learning Center Fellowships are paraprofessional positions that are vital to the Center’s programs and services. Responsibilities of the graduate fellow include a combination of student services (tutoring, study group facilitation, and classroom workshop facilitation) and program or service administration.

    Graduate fellows must:

    • Be full-time students
    • Be eligible for Financial Aid and/or employment on campus
    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Ballotti Learning Center Scholars

    The Ballotti Learning Center has 10 undergraduate scholarships available each year. The BLC scholars participate in a combination of student services:

    • Tutoring
    • Study group facilitation
    • Workshops
    • Team projects

    Scholars must:

    • Be full-time students
    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Have completed their freshman year
    • Work a total of 300 hours (150 hours each semester)

  • Donahue and NESAD Tutors

    Peer tutors encourage independent learning by teaching students study skills and problem solving strategies applied to their current course content.

    Tutors must:

    • Currently be enrolled at Suffolk University
    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Work 8-10 hours per week

  • Study Group Leaders

     

    Study group leaders use group facilitation skills to assist students with traditionally high-risk courses.

    Study group leaders must:

    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
    • Have and maintain a GPA of 3.7 in the subject/course for which they will lead study group 
    • Work 8-10 hours per week

  • Central Referral Position

    Central Referral is open to all Suffolk undergraduate students, including first-semester freshman. Staff members may be asked to perform various duties such as: data entry, phone reception, and other project-oriented tasks.

    Central Referral Staff must:

    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.8
    • Work 8-10 hours per week
    • Attend training sessions and employee meetings
    • Attend support meetings as scheduled
    • Have work-study or student employment

  • Teaching Assistant for SU101/SU102

     

    SU 101/102 Teaching Assistant (TA) position. Teaching Assistants will be assigned to a SU101 course section in the fall 2013 and a SU102 course section in the spring 2014. They will be paired with the same instructor and cohort of students for the full academic year.

    As a SU101/SU102 TA:

    • You will be actively involved in facilitating classroom discussions and group work.
    • You will share your experiences in terms of strategies for personal and academic success and challenges you may have faced and overcome.
    • You will also contribute significantly to the lesson planning for each class, will deliver a portion of each class, and be prepared to potentially teach a class as needed.
    • You will grade reflections, papers, presentations and group work in conjunction with instructors, and are required to attend on-campus events.
