Living in a LLC means you live on a floor or part of a floor that is devoted to your major or academic program (or a LLC dedicated to exploring majors!). Your RA and a faculty or staff member work together to plan special programming for you and serve as personal mentors for you during your first year. The programs that they offer will help you explore class and internship options, careers in your major after you graduate, network with alumni and meet other students who share your enthusiasm.

Undeclared or unsure? Adventurer at heart? The Explorations LLC is for you?
Living in a LLC offers first year students the advantage to take what they are learning in the classroom and apply it outside of the classroom. LLC students are able to really explore their major and develop personal mentoring relationships with faculty, upper-class students in their major and alumni. Students are offered opportunities to network with Boston businesses and have extra faculty member support in choosing possible career paths. By actively participating in an LLC students tend to have:
Living in a LLC is not extra work. You will just have the opportunity to engage with faculty outside of class and be exposed to all that your major, Suffolk and Boston have to offer you. Special programs are only once per a month and will contribute greatly to your success! Any class that you take associated with the LLC is a regular class that you would likely have to take anyway.
In early May you will receive an email from Residence Life asking you to complete your Housing Preferences on the Housing Portal. You will be able to complete and submit a LLC application through this Housing Portal. The priority deadline to sign up for the LLCs is May 15th, so it is important for you to sign into the portal and sign up for the LLC as soon as you can. You will be able to go into the portal to change your other preferences (room type, request roommates etc.) through the end of June.
The class associated with the LLC is a great opportunity to learn in and out of the classroom. You will have the opportunity to learn academic material in the class and apply it to real life outside of the class. Residence Life tries to register all students for their required classes. If you sign up after the priority deadline (May 15th), you will have to register for the class yourself. We can help you to do that before or while you are attending Orientation!
Yes. If you don’t register for your linked class at orientation we may assign you to it later. Students benefit the most from a complete LLC experience which includes living on the floor with your LLC and taking the same class.
Unfortunately, we do not have an LLC for all majors. All of our on campus communities are great. You don’t have to live in an LLC.
Maybe. We are never able to guarantee that students will be able to live together because our space on campus is very limited. We do always try our best to accommodate roommate requests. We will try to place requested roommates together but we can’t guarantee you will be together if you are not both registered for the LLC. If you select living in a LLC and we cannot fit your non-LLC roommate onto the LLC floor with you, we will assign you a new roommate who is in the LLC.
