Sending a child off to college is a difficult experience, as it marks not only a major transition in his or her life, but also in yours. Although college may represent the first time students will be “on their own,” parents will continue to play a critical role in their college student’s development, learning and education.

Students report that input from their parents is one of the most significant influences on the decisions they make early in their college careers. Informed parents can and do have a tremendous impact on their student’s success in college.

Family Orientation is a one-day program specifically designed to assist the parents and families of our newest students in their transition to Suffolk University. Whether your student is commuting, living on campus or living in Boston; is from MA, New England or another state or country; is a business major, liberal arts major or undecided, Family Orientation will allow you to get information about campus services and resources, become acquainted with faculty, staff and current students, and meet other parents who are experiencing similar transition issues with their families.
