About Family Orientation

Q. What should I bring?

A. Since activities throughout the day will require walking in and between buildings, please wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Other than that, just you and a lot of good questions!

Q. What if I have to cancel?

A. Cancellations for Family Orientation participation and /or on-campus housing will receive a full refund only if cancelled in writing via email to orientation@suffolk.edu a minimum of 5 business days before your scheduled check-in date.

Q. I am commuting in for the day, where can I park?

A. We have assembled a listing of garages near the Suffolk University campus with parking options. Some of these parking garages offer certain discounts for parking that may be attractive during your stay, please contact the garages directly to see if the discount is valid for your particular stay. Stamps for validating can be obtained at the dispatch booth on the first floor of the Donahue Building. Please allow a minimum of 15 minutes walking time from any of the locations listed on the Discount Parking/Local Hotel Info Sheet. Parking is very expensive and can run from $25-40 for one day.

Q. I am from out of town, where can I stay?

A. For your convenience we have provided a listing of hotel options within close proximity to the Suffolk University campus. Please contact the hotel directly to make reservations.

Q. Will there be overnight accommodations provided?

A. A block of rooms at Miller Hall at 10 Somerset Street has been reserved for participants attending Family Orientation. Single and double accommodations in the residence halls are available with linens, local telephone service and continental breakfast included. The residence hall features 24-hour security, air conditioning, computer lab, twin-size beds, and semi-private bathrooms. You can reserve a room online at the same time that you register for the Family Orientation Program.

Q. Will I have an opportunity to see my student throughout the day?

A. No. The programs will run independently. Please make appropriate arrangements with your student prior to the beginning of the orientation programs.

Q. Where do I check-in?

A. The location of check-in for parents and family members is Suffolk University Residence Hall at 150 Tremont Street. Please enter through the main entrance and proceed to the lobby. Look for signs directing you to Family Orientation Check-In, which will begin at 8:00am.

Families who are using on campus overnight accomodations must check in at Miller Hall to get keys and drop off luggage before coming to 150 Tremont for Familiy Orientation Check-In.
