1. Test Your Major and Career Choice(s)

  • Complete a College Major/Career Assessment Test
  • Review "Specific Career Guides" section of our Career Resources Library
  • Join Suffolk club(s) in your area of interest
  • Review career information found in the Occupational Outlook Handbook at
    www.bls.gov/oco

2. Sharpen Your Focus

  • Arrange an informational interview with a member of the Alumni Career Advisory Network (ACAN) in your field of interest
  • Attend Career Week events
  • Choose classes related to your career goals
  • Meet with a career counselor to assess your options
  • Meet with academic advisors in your field of interest  

3. Revise Your Résumé and Polish Your Interviewing Skills

  • Discuss revised résumé with a career counselor
  • Consult guidelines on writing effective cover letters
  • Attend a workshop on interviewing skills

4. Prepare for Junior Year

  • Declare your major by the end of the academic year
  • Attend Sophomore Career Day
  • Research co-op process and opportunities
  • Attend Summer Co-Op Job Fair (spring semester)
