Attend to any case of radioactive contamination promptly, in accordance with the standards and procedures described here or in supplementary published instructions.
- Notify persons in the area that a spill has occurred.
- Notify all personnel not involved in the spill to vacate the area.
- Call, or have someone else call, the Suffolk University Police at (617)573-8111 or 8333. The University Police will be responsible for calling the Boston Fire Department.
- Contact the Office of Environmental Health & Safety at (617)573-8628.
- Call the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection at (617)556-1133 for all spills.
- Call the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Radiation Control Program, 174 Portland Street, Boston at (617)727-6214.
Each incident must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
