Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy centers around the introduction of a "cognitive apprenticeship," for students in design studios, where the classroom emulates a professional work environment. Hands-on studio experience is needed for students to master the skills they will use as interior designers. It is the only way for students to fully grasp the interior design discipline and the interrelated and interdisciplinary nature of today's problem solving for the built environment. I also champion three educational initiatives: collaborative teaching, experiential learning and international programming as part and parcel of a well rounded interior design education.
