Teaching Philosophy

Art is a language, dialogic and ever changing. As artists we search to find context. My job, as a teacher is to expose students to what has come before them, and to explain key visual elements. It is vital that students have a sense of history, both art historically and within the actual process of making art. It is impossible to create in a void. We are all influenced in someway by what we have experienced, whether we are conscious of it or not. My hope is to provide students with the skills and confidence to challenge themselves, so that they have the tools to carry out their own innovative investigations.
