The course of study leads to Advanced Provisional Teacher Certification in Massachusetts and other states participating in the NASDTEC Certification Compact. Students major in a liberal arts discipline and minor in education. Students complete all required education courses, a pre-practicum, and a practicum appropriate to their specific program.
Students should submit an application for admission to the Department. Application forms are available in the Education and Human Services Department Office (Fenton 244). A formal acceptance into the middle and secondary education programs require a passing score on all relevant sections of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure, currently the communication and literacy skills and subject matter tests and a 3.0, or better, cumulative grade point average.
